Emma Thompson studied English at the University of Cambridge. She was an active member of the Cambridge Footlights comedy society. After graduating, she acted in TV shows such as The Young Ones. In 1988, she had her own TV sketch show, Thompson. She made in impact in movies with roles in Howard’s End and In The Name Of The Father. She is also a screenwriter and won an Oscar for her adaptation of Sense And Sensibility. She has also written and starred in the Nanny McPhee movies.
