After Martin Scorsese was expelled from missionary school, he studied filmmaking at New York University. Roger Corman spotted his student movies. He began directing features with Who’s That Knocking At My Door? In the seventies he gained recognition for directing movies including Mean Streets and Taxi Driver. He has since built up a reputation with movies including Raging Bull and The Departed. In 2010, he received the Cecil B. De Mille award at the Golden Globes.
