Biography

Born in LA, Kristen Stewart lived in Colorado and Pennsylvania. Her family returned to LA when she was a teenager. Aged eight, her acting talent was spotted by an agent at her Christmas school play. Her big break came in 2002 when she starred alongside Jodie Foster in Panic Room. Since then, she has garnered worldwide attention for her leading role in the Twilight movies. In 2009, she was awarded The Orange Rising Star Award at the BAFTAs.

  • Kristen Stewart replaced Hayden Panettiere in Panic Room. After Nicole Kidman dropped out of the movie due to a knee injury, Jodie Foster was given the lead role. Due to their similar physical appearance, 12 year old Kristen was chosen to play Foster’s daughter in the movie.
  • Both of her parents work in the media industry. Her American father, John Stewart, is a TV producer for Fox. Her Australian mother, Jules Mann-Stewart, is a script supervisor for movies including Scooby Doo! The Mystery Begins and Crank: High Voltage.
  • In the first Twilight movie, she wore brown contact lenses to match the character Bella's eye colour. However in New Moon, Kristen’s naturally green eyes were colour graded brown in post-production.
  • Alongside her Twilight co-star Taylor Lautner, she presented a tribute to horror movies at the Oscars in 2010.
  • She co-wrote the track Tracy’s Song which she performs in Sean Penn’s Into The Wild.
