Amanda Seyfried began taking acting and singing classes as a child. Growing up, she worked as a model. She began her acting career while still at high school with roles in US soap operas As The World Turns and All My Children. In 2003 she got her big break in Mean Girls. Five years later, she played her first lead role in Mamma Mia! She has since starred in a range of movies from Dear John to Chloe.
