Gary Oldman was primarly raised by his Irish mother after his father left the family when Gary was seven. He won a scholarship to the Rose Bruford College. He graduated with a B.A. in theatre arts. Seven years later, he launched his career playing Sid Vicious in Sid & Nancy. He is known for his versatility as he regularly changes his appearance and accent for his roles in movies including Dracula and Immortal Beloved.
