Biography

John Malkovich studied theatre at Eastern Illinois University and Illinois State University. In 1976 he joined the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago. In 1980 he moved to New York. In the 80s he developed a successful stage career winning two Obie awards and a Drama Desk award for acting and directing plays. He moved into movies with roles in Places In The Heart in 1984 and Empire Of The Sun in 1987. He has since mixed stage work with movie roles ranging from Being John Malkovich to Changeling.
