Anne Hathaway was born and raised in New York. Despite her parents’ hesitations, she became heavily involved in local theatre from an early age. She studied acting with The Burrow Group in New York. Aged 16, she came to the attention of movie producers for her role in the TV series Get Real. She found recognition in family friendly movies including The Princess Diaries and Ella Enchanted. She has since acquired an older fanbase in movies including Brokeback Mountain and Rachel Getting Married.
