Paul Giamatti was raised by his father, a Yale University president and baseball commissioner, and his mother, a teacher and an actress. He studied English and drama at Yale. After graduating, he got work on Broadway and in TV shows. He rose from minor roles in The Truman Show and Saving Private Ryan to leading roles in movies like American Splendor. In 2004, he was critically acclaimed for his performance in Sideways. He has starred in a variety of movies from The Illusionist to Duplicity.
