Jodie Foster was raised by her mother, a movie producer. She began acting in commercials as a child. She got her education at a French language school in LA and Yale University. In 1976, she got her big break starring in Taxi Driver, Bugsy Malone and Freaky Friday. She made the transition from child star to Oscar award-winning actor in The Accused and The Silence Of The Lambs. In 1991, she made her directing debut with Little Man Tate.
