Biography

Clint Eastwood worked many odd jobs after school. In 1950, he was drafted for military service. In the army, he befriended two actors who persuaded him to try acting. In 1954, he moved to LA. He became a household name starring in TV series Rawhide. In the sixties, he built up a reputation in Western movies. In the seventies, he played his signature role, Dirty Harry. He has become a respected actor and director of movies including Million Dollar Baby and Gran Torino.

  • Clint Eastwood is passionate about music. He wrote the theme tunes for movies including Unforgiven and Gran Torino.
  • In 1994, he won the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award at the Oscars. The award is presented to "creative producers whose bodies of work reflect a consistently high quality of motion picture production".
  • In 1986, he was the mayor of the small Californian town Carmel-by-the-Sea.
  • In 1953, he married Maggie Johnson, six months after their first blind date. They had two children. In 1978, they divorced. He met anchorwoman Dina Ruiz when she interviewed him. They married in 1996 and have one daughter.
  • He supposedly purchased the script for Unforgiven in 1979. He waited until 1992 to make it because he believed he needed to be more mature for the movie.
