Biography

At the age of 12, Johnny Depp’s mother bought him a guitar. Three years later, he dropped out of school to become a rock musician. On a visit to LA, he met Nicolas Cage who persuaded him to try out acting. He got recognition as a teen heart throb in TV series 21 Jump Street. He shot to fame in the lead role in Edward Scissorhands. He has built up a reputation playing a variety of eccentric characters in movies like Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas and The Pirates Of The Caribbean series.

  • Before his acting career, Johnny Depp performed in the band The Kids, which once opened for Iggy Pop.
  • He has starred in seven movies directed by his good friend Tim Burton including Sleepy Hollow and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.
  • When he was engaged to Winona Ryder he had Winona Forever tattooed on his right bicep. When they broke up, he had the 'n' and the 'a' surgically removed and it now reads Wino Forever.
  • He was arrested for trashing his New York hotel room in 1994. The charges were dropped when he paid over 10,000 dollars in damages and fees. Ironically, legendary hotel-trasher Roger Daltrey of The Who was trying to sleep next door when it happened.
