Biography

Thomas Cruise Mapother IV spent a lot of his childhood moving around with his family. He attended eight elementary schools and three high schools. He originally wanted to become a priest. However, he turned his attention to acting in high school. He moved to New York. He became an iconic eighties actor with movies including Top Gun and Cocktail. He has continued to be a box office draw as an actor and producer of movies including the Mission Impossible franchise and War Of The Worlds.

  • At the age of seven, Tom Cruise was diagnosed with dyslexia. He tried to hide his condition from fellow students, teachers and casting directors. He credits Scientology's study methods with helping him overcome dyslexia.
  • While attending the London premiere of War Of The Worlds, he was squirted in the face with a water pistol during an interview. He reacted unfavourably and the video became a hit on the Internet. He also has a reputation for being generous with his time when meeting fans at premieres. For instance, he spent two hours on the red carpet signing autographs at the London premiere of The Last Samurai.
