Nicolas Cage was born Nicolas Coppola. His uncle is director Francis Ford Coppola. He changed his name early in his career to build his own reputation. His first movie Fast Times At Ridgemont High did not bring him the recognition he craved. He began selling popcorn in a cinema. He studied at UCLA’s School of Theatre, Film and Television. In 1983, he launched his career with Valley Girl and his Uncle Francis' movie, Rumble Fish. He has since earned critical acclaim in movies like Adaptation.
