Biography

Chris Cooper grew up on a cattle ranch in Kansas City. He studied agriculture and drama at the University of Missouri-Columbia. After graduating, he moved to New York to pursue a career in acting. He starred in several theatre productions such as Of The Fields Lately. He moved into TV with roles in Miami Vice and Lonesome Dove. He has built up a reputation in movies ranging from American Beauty to Adaptation.

  • In 1983 Chris Cooper married actress and writer Marionne Lione. Their son was born prematurely in 1987 and died in 2005 due to cerebral palsy complications.
