Biography

Antonio Banderas is the eldest son of a police officer and a teacher. At 14, a foot injury put an end to his football aspirations. He then became interested in acting. After moving to Madrid, he was spotted by Pedro Almodovar who cast him in his movies throughout the 80s. In 1992, he transitioned into English-speaking roles in The Mambo Kings. He has since starred in a variety of movies including Philadelphia and The Mask of Zorro. He made his directorial debut in 1998 with Crazy In Alabama.
