Ellison (Ethan Hawke) is a struggling true crime writer. For inspiration he has moved his family to the home of a family who died under mysterious circumstances. The house is empty except for a box of home movies in the attic. When Ellison watches the films he is horrified to discover that they feature families being brutally murdered by a mysterious figure. When Ellison investigates he realises that he has unleashed an ancient evil being that consumes the souls of children. Strong violence and horror.
