TJ is trying to get over the death of his mother. His father Paul (Rainn Wilson) has given up on life and started taking drugs. Just when their home life can't get any more dysfunctional, Hesher (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a hellraising drifter moves into their garage. The long-haired, tattooed loner does what he wants in life. He causes trouble and has no respect for society. But instead of throwing Hesher out, Paul decides to let him stay and somehow the family's life begins to turn around. Strong sexualised language, sexual references and some violence.
