Harriet Vanger disappeared at a family gathering 40 years ago. Her uncle, Henrik Vanger, has always believed that one of his family is responsible. He hires Mikael Blomkvist, an investigative journalist to look into the case. With the help of Lisbeth Salander, a young computer hacker with a photographic memory, they try to uncover the truth.
