William Wilberforce (Ioan Gruffudd) was a politician with a conscience. When he was elected into The House of Commons at the age of 21, William made a bid to outlaw slavery. Despite a strong case and leading anti slavery activists including his friend Prime Minister William Pitt (Benedict Cumberbatch), the bill was ultimately doomed. Pro slavery campaigners Lord Tarleton (Ciaran Hinds) and the Duke of Clarence (Toby Jones) helped ensure William's efforts would fail. Mild language and violence.
